Man of Action

Man ready to get Busy

Mr. Potter Esquire. He runs Potter Esquire Clothing in New York. He asked me to do a portrait when he saw the Interesting People Paintings in 2010. A consummate promoter, boxer, musician and businessman yet down to earth. I really enjoyed working on this one.

Chris

Man Sitting Thinking

I have seen the written definition of Generation Y. I am also related to the extreme version of that definition. I tried to capture it in this painting of my brother. This was painting number two  of the first iteration of Interesting People that showed in 2010.

Fame and Fortune Characters

Sometimes I get to do the characters for a video game. I never thought I would really do one for a Facebook game. TRZZonline Fame and Fortune drops June 2010 on Facebook. It’s all about doing those gigs, to get famous and make money, so you can have that celebrity lifestyle we all sometimes dream of.

Fame And Fortune Devil and Angel

Sometimes we are good and sometimes we are bad. The game allows you to help out your friends or give them a hard time. It’s really about how important it is for you to be more famous than them.

Your gonna need help to get to the top. Above is your one man band and the make up girl. Below is the entire Entourage.

Jack

Old Man in a Chair Jack has a little of the devil in him. He really likes to tell jokes and get people riled up, all the while playing the innocent. I was trying to get that across in just the smirk.

Zen Clown

A picture of a Zen Like ClownI thought that I could design my website to be all chaotic. Turned out to be a failure. But at least I got this cool illustration out of it. At least I think it’s cool. If your afraid of clowns you won’t think it’s cool. Especially this clown. He is all magical or something. Does he represent my silly sarcastic nature or my wannabe zen character or just that I tend to juggle so much stuff that it feels like my world is turning upside down.

Yes it was intentional that he be sideways. Part of the magic.

Foolin’ Around

A couple of Clowns Goofing Off

More Clowns. I like clowns. I didn’t start this one digitally. I wanted to see what I could do with the acrylic ink I am so fond of but seems to sit on the shelf.

Nick Of Time

Illustration of A man Jumping from and Explosion

I did this painting in the Nick of Time. So it’s got sort of two meanings for me. I was getting disinterested in art in general, I sort of came to a wall. Like all good creatives I kept trying to get over the wall using my sketchbook, painting in different mediums, and modeling in 3D. Then Adobe finally put transparency in Illustrator and I was looking at the lasso masking techniques used in photoshop by the Computer Graphic geniuses.

I realized I could do the same thing as them in Illustrator. So I tried it on an old sketch. 6 Hours later this is what I had.

Wonderville Selected Images

I got this assignment from Science Alberta to design some fake fish for a place called WonderVille. These were just quickies that were going to be used by the animator, who I ended up being the one to hire for the project. Overall it went quite well for me as I got to try to make these fun fishies.  I also had to do real ones that would live in the rivers of Alberta. I’m not showing them because you can google those fish and see pictures.

This is the only place to see WonderVille Fish.

Little Village

This was supposed to go in an educational game that featured Pirates and Math problems. Very fun project for me that was suddenly canceled. Luckily I had finished much of the background art for the first level and was able to put it together into this Painting. I have prints if you want them.

Virtual Villagers – Favorite Screens

I have worked on the Virtual Villagers Series for about three years. It’s a pretty popular game with the Casual Gamer crowd. I started at the end of the project on VV1 and finished VV4. I’m not working on VV5 because sadly all things must eventually come to an end. Arthur and Carla of  Last Day of Work still consider the series their baby and want to keep working on it until the fans ask them to stop.

I don’t see that happening  for a long time though.

Available at Big Fish Games.

Spelling Bee Rocks (the concept)

Eventually I want to bring this concept to life. All I need is a big investor with a heart of gold who believes that educational games don’t have to be terrible.  I did at least get a fun heavy metal bee and cool tour bus. I just want kids to be able to play with them.
